What the score checks and why
AI engines cite pages they can read and trust. The ten checks below cover the basics that affect whether a page is easy for an AI system to understand and reference. Each check is scored 0, 1 or 2, and the total is scaled to 0-100.
- Title and meta description. Clear, unique metadata helps both search engines and AI systems understand what the page is about.
- One H1. A single main heading gives a page a clear structure. Multiple H1s or none blur the topic.
- Structured data. Schema.org JSON-LD (Article, FAQPage, LocalBusiness and similar) gives AI engines explicit facts about the page.
- FAQ content. Question-and-answer content is frequently cited by AI engines, especially when marked up as FAQPage.
- Mobile viewport. Most search and AI traffic comes from mobile. Pages without a viewport tag are hard to assess.
- Indexable. A noindex page will not appear in Google or be reliably cited by AI engines.
- Content depth. Thin pages give AI engines little to work with. More substantial content is easier to cite.
- Descriptive links. Link text that says what the target is about helps both users and AI systems navigate the site.
- HTTPS. Secure pages are trusted more than insecure ones.
The check is deliberately simple and runs entirely in your browser. It does not test rankings, backlinks, or how your competitors compare, and it cannot see password-protected or heavily scripted pages. For a deeper review, the free Local SEO page describes what a fuller engagement covers.
AI discovery files
When you check a URL, the tool also looks for the key files at the root of the site. These are prime signals for how AI engines and crawlers discover and use the site.
- robots.txt - tells crawlers what they may read. The tool checks whether known AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot and others) are blocked site-wide.
- llms.txt - an emerging standard that tells large language models what to read first. Optional, but ahead-of-curve sites publish one.
- sitemap.xml - lists the site's pages so crawlers can find them. The tool estimates how many URLs it lists.
The tool also checks for on-site local business signals (LocalBusiness schema, phone number, address), which are the on-page equivalent of a claimed Google Business Profile. It cannot read your actual Google Business Profile without a Google API key, but those on-site signals are what AI engines can read directly.
